Foundation Inspection

Foundation Inspection | Exploratory Home Inspection | Tacoma, WA | (253) 298-2434

There is a well-worn phrase that says a house is only as strong as its foundation. This saying is often used in a metaphorical sense, but it certainly holds true for a structure. Problems you might be experiencing in your home are often traceable to either the roof or the foundation, two places where I offer my inspection services if something other than a whole-house inspection has been requested.

Having a periodic foundation inspection in Tacoma, WA, can be a significant money saver, especially if yours is an older home and, even more so, if your home has a basement. Inspections of this type can be of significant value in that they enable small problems to be addressed and resolved before they become bigger ones, and quite possibly very expensive ones.

The over condition of a foundation is one of the first things I look at. After all, it is holding up the structure, and if the foundation is crumbling because of inferior materials or workmanship, or if it has sustained moisture damage, replacing it, or a portion of it, is usually a major expense.

Assuming a foundation is basically in good shape, the next thing activity I perform will generally be a foundation cracks inspection, while conducting a foundation vents inspection at the same time. I take care to make note of any place moisture may be allowed to enter the interior of a structure, or anyplace it may be allowed to be absorbed into the concrete.

Naturally, I also look for places where unwelcome guests who are looking for a new home could possibly gain entrance, or evidence that such entrances may exist. If you live in an older home, or if you just want some assurance that your home’s foundation is problem-free and likely to remain so for the near term, feel free to get in touch with Exploratory Home Inspection. You can get a quote, and we can then schedule an inspection.
